Geologic time scale
(Redirected from Ice age)
The geologic time scale (GTS) is a system of chronological dating that relates geological strata to time. It is used by geologists, paleontologists, and other Earth scientists to describe the timing and relationships of events that have occurred during Earth's history.
The most recent periods include the existence of humans and other members of Homo, such as the Pleistocene period (the last "Ice Age", about 2.58 millions to 11,700 years ago) and the preceding warmer Pliocene/Pleiocene period (about 5.33 million to 2.58 millions years ago) and the current warmer Holocene period (which includes all of written history).
