Friedrich
(Redirected from Fritz)
Friedrich (sometimes Friederich) is the German form of a pan-Germanic male given name and means "peaceful one," "prince of peace," or "mighty protector." The short form is "Fritz," "Friedel," or "Frieder" (pet names: Fritzchen, Fritzl, Fritzel). The female version is Friederike (Fritzi, Rike). Friederike, like the name Frigga, means the rich in peace or the princess of peace. The English-language version is Frederick.
Heinrich, Karl (Karlmann), Otto, Friedrich and Wilhelm are the most common names of German rulers since the early Middle Ages. Friedrich can also be a surname.
