Euphemism
A euphemism is a more innocuous word or expression used in place of one that may be found offensive or suggest something unpleasant.
Euphemisms may be used to refer to taboo topics (such as disability, sex, excretion, or death) in a polite way, or to mask profanity. However, politically correct euphemisms often go beyond this, and may attempt to mislead, conceal, and/or deceive.
One example is using "undocumented immigration" instead of illegal immigration, giving the impression that such immigration is not illegal.
Migrants from non-White countries, especially to Europe, are often referred to as "refugees", even before they have applied for or been granted refugee status, and ignoring that such migrants may be economic migrants or criminal migrants fleeing not persecution but justice.
Some migrants described as "refugees" by politically correct sources may not even themselves claim to be refugees, but be, for example, claimed relatives to "refugees".
Related euphemisms include "refugee smugglers" for migrant smugglers.
Another euphemism is "direct action" for often illegal activities, such as by antifa.
