** At the beginning of the war, the division was stationed in Border Protection Sector 1 behind the 4th Army on the Pomeranian coast. After the German advance through Poland began, it followed the German troops from the Bütow area and then fought its way through Berent and Karthaus to Gdynia. The division remained there as an occupation force and relocated to Westphalia in December 1939. At the start of the [[Western Campaign]], the division marched from the Elten area across the Dutch border and crossed the IJssel and the Lower Rhine towards Arnhem. From there, it advanced via Ede and Rhenen. Via Utrecht and Doorn, the division reached [[Amsterdam]] and Scheveningen. After the fighting in Holland ended, the division marched towards [[Paris]] but returned to [[Holland]] after a short time. On leave in August 1940 and upon re-call, three security divisions (207, 281, 285) were formed at the Groß-Born military training area.
