Phil Piratin

Phil Piratin (1907-1995) was a Jewish communist based in Britain in the 20th-century.

Anti-British Activist

He was a bitter opponent of Oswald Mosley's nationalists. He agitated against this group for years. He successfully helped push Britain towards war against Germany in 1939.

Career as Subverter of British Parliament

A member of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB), he was a Member of Parliament, until losing his seat in 1950. In parliament, he used his influence to push the Labour Party further and further to the left. Anti-communist elements in the Labour Party identified his scheming and expelled several Labour MPs he had recruited.
