Hugo Sperrle (February 7, 1885 - April 2, 1953), was a German Generalfeldmarschall of the Luftwaffe during World War II. In 1903,Sperrle joined the German Army and seen action during World War I. In 1919 he joined the newly formed Freikorps and re-enlisted in the Army. He once again joined the Luftwaffe in 1935 and was appointed Commander of the Condor Legion during the Spanish Civil War.
During WWII he was one of the main figures leading the Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britain. The end of the war saw Sperrle captured by the Americans and charged with war crimes, but was found not guilty and was acquitted. He died in Munich in 1953.
