The goth subculture is a subculture influenced by gothic rock, gothic literature, and gothic horror films. Dress style often includes dark attire (often black), pale face makeup, and black hair.

Members have been stated to often be leftists. However, "far right" views have been stated to have become more influential. "Scrolling through timelines that have posted with the #gothright tag you see the normal memes about fake news and the mainstream media [...] But the most prevalent topic among these users is a defense of “whiteness” and concern over racism towards white people."[1]

Today, in politically correct circles, the goth preference for pale/white skin and interest in older European gothic literature (written before current political correctness became common in mainstream literature) may be considered to be racist.
