Giordano Pierleoni

Giordano Pierleoni was a leader of the Commune of Rome which existed between 1144 and 1193. His paternal grandfather, Leo de Benedicto Christiano, was a rich Jew who converted to Christianity. His family was influential in the political life of Rome, with Giordano's brother being Antipope Anacletus II and his father Pierleone. During this time Pope Lucius II was killed in an attempted retaking of the city.
