The Andersonville prison.

Camp Sumter, also known as the Andersonville prison, was a Confederate prisoner of war camp during the American Civil War. The site of the prison is now the Andersonville National Historic Site near Andersonville, Georgia.

Many of the Union prisoners died there because of malnutrition and disease. This was used for various propaganda purposes during and after the war, such as providing a justification for the harsh treatment of the South.
