Vlad II (before 1395 – 1447), also known as Vlad Dracul or Vlad the Dragon, was governor ("voivode") of Wallachia from 1436 to 1442, and again from 1443 to 1447. He switched sides several times during the Christian conflicts with the Ottoman Empire, eventually being killed.

He spent his youth at the court of Sigismund, Holy Roman Emperor, who made him a member of the Order of the Dragon for the defense of Christian Europe against the Ottoman Empire, hence his sobriquet. His son was Vlad the Impaler, also known as Vlad III Dracula, with Dracula means "son of Dracul".
