September 11, 2007 Brussels demonstration against Islam

On September 11, 2007, a group of international and peaceful demonstrators marched in Brussels, Belgium "against the Islamization of Europe." The demonstration was primarily organized by the Vlaams Belang political party, but also people from various countries came there, including Mario Borghezio, MEP of Lega Nord political party.

Police brutally attacked the demonstrators, violating their rights to express their views.

MEP Mario Borghezio was arrested despite political immunity because of his membership in European Parliament. Italian government protested against Belgium for this treatment.

Excuses by socialist mayor of Brussels involved security, but it is clear that they were political ones.

A pro-Islam demonstration in London was not attacked by police: [1].
