Robert Roy MacGregor

Robert Roy Macgregor was born and baptized at Buchcanan Parish on March 7 1671. Also known as Robert the Red, his nickname because of his wild red hair. He was a Jacobite sympathizer. With the early death of his parents, Rob concentrated in the family business - cattle rearing, a usual business in the Scottish Highlands. With his business growing and political knowledge he became well known throughout Scotland with respectable holdings in Inversnaid and Graigrostan.[1]

He married his wife Helen MacGregor at the age of 22 with whom he had four sons - James (Mor) the tall, Ranald, Coll, and Robert known as Robin (Oig) or young Rob.[1]
