Peace symbol
From Metapedia
The Peace symbol is derived from an ancient rune used by Northern Europeans. Originally the symbol represented the fallen man or the death of an individual. During the Third Reich fallen German soldiers had both the life rune (represented with arms risen) signifying the birth of the soldier and the death rune (represented with arms fallen to the side) on their grave makers. In 1958 professional designer Gerald Holtom adopted the death rune symbol as the logo of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament popularly know as Ban the Bomb Movement.
