This article is specifically about the National-Anarchist movement. See Nationalism and anarchism for a general article on fusions of nationalist and anarchist ideas.

National-Anarchism (spelt in this way by its adherents) is an ideology that combines anarchism and nationalism, with intellectual roots in Third Positionism and the writings of the neo-Spenglerian Francis Parker Yockey. Used in this sense, the term was coined simultaneously by Troy Southgate (England), Peter Topfer (Germany) and Hans Cany (France) and was defined by the National Revolutionary Faction to describe its ideological position. National-Anarchists see the hierarchies inherent in government and capitalism as oppressive, and advocate collective action organized along the lines of national identity. They cite Mikhail Bakunin, Peter Kropotkin, Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, Leo Tolstoy and Max Stirner among others as influences.

[edit] Core positions

National-Anarchism shares with most strains of anarchism a desire to reorganize society with an emphasis on replacing the hierarchical structures of government and capitalism with decentralized local, communal decision-making. This polis or city state is similar to the social structure advocate. Naturally communities can vary widely in their social outlook and local customs. The diversity of these polis-like areas should be encouraged to organize along a tribal or national basis with different communities organized on the social customs of the local population. This can be thought of in terms of communities based on the overall character of the religious, cultural, ethnic, or sexual orientation (but not necessarily so) of the members of that community. Each area is allowed to make the rules, laws, and customs, and economy of their own territory. National Anarchists emphasis kinship with ones own community and we place a special emphasis on self sustainable living practices and enviornmental responsibility. National Anarchists are not generally primitivists but we do recognize that capitalism is consuming all of the planets resources at an unsustainable rate.

Opposed to globalization, National Anarchists advocate decentralization and an end to economic domination over all aspects of social life.

National-Anarchist Troy Southgate has stated:

We believe in political, social and economic decentralization. In other words, we wish to see a positive downward trend whereby all bureaucratic concepts such as the UN, NATO, the EU, the World Bank and even nation-states like England and Germany are eradicated and consequently replaced by autonomous village-communities.

National-Anarchists tend to advocate economic practices which can be loosely described as varieties of distributism, where the emphasis is placed on a wide ownership of the means of production, as in small businesses and workers' cooperatives.[1]

Proponents of National-Anarchism claim to support voluntary racial separatism. Furthermore, most National-Anarchists believe that miscegenation is a "very serious threat and endangers mankind". Their view on separatism allows indigenous cultures and biodiversity to flourish. National-Anarchist Troy Southgate has stated: "Our concept of the word ‘national’ relates not to territory but to the racial identity which is a natural facet of all peoples" and that "We simply want our own space in which to live according to our own principles." The U.S. National-Anarchist group Folk and Faith states: "Being firm believers in true bio-diversity, National-Anarchists are staunch racial separatists."[2]
