Miguel Primo de Rivera

Miguel Primo de Rivera (8 January 1870 - 16 March 1930), in full Miguel Primo De Rivera Y Orbaneja, Marqués De Estella, was a Spanish military officer who was Prime Minister between 1923 and 1930, having seized power in a military coup.
He implemented an authoritarian regime that had successes in certain areas, but his economic policies were considered a failure, although an unclear part of this was due to the beginning of the Great Depression. Lacking support from the king and the military, he resigned, and died shortly afterwards.
After his death, his son José Antonio Primo de Rivera became important in Spanish politics.
