L'Anse aux Meadows
L'Anse aux Meadows is a site on the northern tip of Newfoundland, Canada. It is the first known European settlement in the New World, by Norse Vikings, in land they called Vinland. The settlement likely was a base camp from which exploration and resource-gathering expeditions were launched.
