Earl Southard

Captain Earl Southard photo was chairman of the Citizen's U.S.A. Committee. Before the attack upon Pearl Harbor the group was known as Citizen's Keep America Out of War Committee.

Earl Southard was well connected and was associated with Charles Lindbergh, Robert R. McCormick and Gerald L.K. Smith.

Captain Southard was a World War I veteran who was wounded 17 times.[1] He was the Illinois commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Southard was suspended by the national commander of the VFW for alleged subversive activities when he opposed President Roosevelt’s Lend-Lease Bill.[2] A week later at their national convention, Southard was reinstated.[3]

In 1944 Southard was Illinois party chairman for the America First Party.
