The Brythons (Old Welsh: Brythoniaid) are a race of Indo-European people, most of whom claim descent from the indigenous inhabitants of the island of Great Britain from before the arrival of the Roman Empire. They continue to exist as the ethnic Welsh, Bretons and Cornish (although not all of the inhabitants of these areas belong to the Celtic ethnic group, some having arrived from outside since the Middle Ages), as well as having a significant amount of descendents amongst the English and Lowland Scots, who are otherwise Germanic.
